this st Patrick’s day - explore an Irish London!
For generations, people from the Emerald Isle have settled in London, adding to the rich heritage of the city. Some of the most famous writers and artists you know, the likes of Oscar Wilde and Bram Stoker, were born in Ireland and lived in London! Revolutionaries and key figures in Ireland’s fight for freedom like Daniel O Connell, Michael Collins or Constance Markievicz have a story to tell in London.
Starting close to the British Parliament, we'll talk political figures and leaders of the Easter Rising and Ireland’s War of Independence. We will then head up towards the theatre district to learn of Ireland’s incredible contributions to literature and culture, finishing in the neighbourhood of Soho, a place where many Irish families settled following the Great Hunger of the 1840s.
